The coaching clinic at the Nairobi City Stadium was a great success, with local coaches gaining valuable knowledge and skills to help develop the next generation of footballers.
Each attendee coach received a J2A football to use in their own coaching sessions. The addition of Libby Barnett to the J2A team was a significant one, as she brought her passion and dedication to helping improve the lives of the children in Nairobi. Her fundraising efforts through running the London Marathon helped provide much-needed resources for the Mandaleo Learning Centre, including newbeds, flooring, and roofing for the girls' dormitory.
In collaboration with Alive & Kicking, J2A was proud to release 100 Limited Edition footballs, made in Nairobi and sponsored by Standard Bank. These special footballs commemorated the historic 100th Muratti football match held in Jersey in May 2016.
In November, J2A arrived at Nairobi Airport with two Jersey women footballers,Libby Barnett and Eve Watson, who were on their first trip to Nairobi. Patrick Otieno and his players warmly welcomed them, along with their driver Benson.
Thegirls quickly formed a connection with the children they met and had theunexpected pleasure of meeting the Kenya national team head coach StanleyOkumbi.
Libbyconducted her first coaching session for women players, while Eve took part in a women's match sporting newly donated kit from her Jersey club, St Paul's FC.
Later that afternoon, over 20 coaches attended a coaching workshop to learn new techniques and strategies to enhance their coaching skills.
