On January 18, 2013, Jersey 2 Africa 4 Football Foundation Limited was officially formed.
This marked an important milestone in the journey towards helping young boys and girls in Africa. With an official status as a charitable organisation, J2A was able to better reach out to donors and supporters and expand its impact.
One of the initiatives that J2A undertook in September 2013 was the opening of the J2Afootball store. The store was a new concept and the first of its kind in Jersey. The store was based in central St Helier and received donations of second-hand balls, boots, kits, and equipment, which were either resold locally to raise funds or shipped out to Nairobi.
Thanks to the generous support of the States of Jersey in conjunction with the Bailhache Trust, J2A was able to set up the football store and create a sustainable source of funding for their programs in Africa. With a wide array of team and individual kits, tracksuits, training tops, shorts, socks, and footballs, boxes were packed for shipment to Nairobi.
The J2A football store was a great success, not just in terms of fundraising but also in terms of raising awareness about the charity's work. By accepting football donations only, the store helped to reinforce the message that J2A'sfocus was on using football as a tool for social change in Africa.
Overall, the J2A football store was a great example of how innovative ideas can lead to positive change. By accepting football donations and using them to support their programs in Africa, J2A was able to create a self-sustaining funding stream while also providing opportunities for people in Jersey to give back to their community. And with their ongoing commitment to improving young lives in Africa, we can be sure that J2A will continue to make a real difference in the years to come.
